Day 6

Have you noticed that I avoid indoor tourist spots? Today, we're going to have a good jungle trek. Destination of the day is the Nanhansanseong. Its chinese name is 南汉山城. It's a mountain fortress, south of the Seoul city. The place is reachable by subway + bus ride. It's the first time we had to pay > KRW 900 for the subway ride, coz it's not within the radius of the city centre. The subway fare is KRW 1.1k pp.

In KL, if you don't have small change to pay for the bus ticket... too bad. You'd have to pay more. In Korea, the machine will return the change in coin form. Notice the machine in the photo above? That's the coin machine.

Before the entrance, there's a small memorial park. Chinese characters are carved on the stone. Entrance ticket costs KRW 1k pp. It was the first time we had to pay for an entrance ticket to a park in Korea.

We called this a small great wall. The trek is well designed, with bars and rails along the way.

Luckily we packed our own lunch here. There's a place for people to rest in the fortress park. Simple gym equipment is available too. I think Koreans are more civic conscious. All public facilities and amenities are in good condition. All steel and aluminium nails, bolts, nuts and bars are still in place. In M'sia, all these will be gone on the 2nd day of installation, stolen by people to be sold to ting ting botol.

It's really a recuperating trip for me. I had a good nap in the park after a simple lunch. Feels nice, feels GREAT!

The town at the foot of the hill is lined with churches.

Korean food comprise of vege, vege and more vege. I love to eat, eat and eat here. Look at the size of the noodles I was having for dinner!
