2010 New Year

Jan 1 2010. Took MTR to Hong Kong island.

See the pocket-sized yellow cards both of us are holding? Tell you what, this is a new way monks seek donation. The robe-clad monk approached us, distributed the yellow card, asked us to put down names on a tiny booklet. A typical M'sian like Lulu 闪 when the monk asked us to write on the booklet. Hubby, as "ang-moh 直" as he is, put his name down. Lulu was still keeping her distance, 3 feet away. Then, on the last column, he has to fill in how much money he is gonna give. Then, hubby said, "Aw... man!". To mend the wok, Lulu forked out HKD 20. 求平安.

I've forgotten what did I say when I looked at the flags that day. Hubby said, "it's not your country". Well, 祖国=祖父的国. It's the country of my grandpa.

  1. I think you said that there was a Malaysian flag at the poles, then I said it isn't your country.
