8 Dec 2010 Chicago to Miami

It was a morning rush to get to Chicago O'hare Airport, especially when we were taking a CTA bus and a blue-line train to reach the airport. Setting out at 8:30am to catch a CTA bus, I realized that something was amissed. I just had a backpack and my hands were too empty. Hm... I left my camera at my Schaumburg apartment. Urgh... too bad. It was my first time setting out for a vacation trip without a camera. The bright side is, I got a slim camera phone. Well, of course, don't compare the quality of a 2 mega-pixel camera phone with a Nikon D3000 DSLR.

Our 10:50am flight with American Airlines was punctual. We touched down at Miami International Airport at 2:40pm local time. (Miami is 1 hour ahead of Chicago.) We had our late lunch at the airport.

The temperature at Miami was about 18 Celsius. It was considered "warm" for us from the freezing Chicago of -8 Celsius. Hubby was laughing at the locals Miamian who rubbed their hands for warmth.

To get to our Days Inn Hotel at the 74th street of Miami Beach, we took bus #J ($2/person) from the airport, then, changed to bus #S (another $2/person). The journey took us approximately 2 hours. By the time we checked into the hotel, it was already 6pm.

Dinner: $26

There are many Latin American restaurants around. Down the streets, in the public buses, people speaks in Spanish.
We had dinner at a Cuban restaurant. I had a sip of Mojito (pronounced as mo-hi-to), a cocktail of vodka+mint. Hubby bottomed-up the whole complimentary glass of alcohol that came free with the dinner set we ordered. Throughout the dinner, his apple-red face drew attention from our neighbouring diners and waitresses.
The programme of the night, after the dinner, was: zzzzZZZZ.

Spending of the day for 2:
Transport: $8
Food: $51
Internet: $1
Miscellaneous: $1

  1. First of all, I didn't laugh at any of them for being cold. I merely stated the fact that they seem cold to my wife with a smile.
