Flat Tyre on New Year's Day

On the way to Chicago from where I live, on the highway, tyre burst. The outer layer of the tyre came off. Damn cold weather, at -10C. We slowly drove to the nearest highway exit and changed to a spare tyre at an apartment parking spot.
We managed to loosen all 5 nuts and jacked up the car. The the tyre was still stuck at the axle. While figuring out on how to take that tyre out, a black lady approached us. She told us that the parking space is a private property and demanded that we leave.
It was so obvious that we couldn't leave the parking lot as our car was already been jacked up, the rim was already been taken off, and the nuts were already been loosened too. I stared blankly at the lady. In my mind, the scene of Gurmit Singh's movie: 我在政府部门的日子 suddenly popped up. Just like the Indian guard who follows the law blindly, this black lady also follows the rule blindly.
At that kind of temperature plus strong wind, both my hands and feet were all numbed, my face was nearly numb too. That's why I didn't ask her on how are we going to leave the private property when we had a flat tyre or no tyre, to move the car. We just apologized profusely in the hope that she left us as soon as possible so that we could fix the tyre.

Still snowing

It started to snow heavily since the day before. Many people left work after lunch. At 3pm, the situation was getting worse and we headed home from work. It was a wise decision. I've never encountered such a situation before. I told hubby "let's go home when the snow subsides". He told me that it'd only get worse. Indeed. He was right. It snowed for the entire afternoon, evening, night... until this morning did it stop snowing.

CNY 2011

Different culture. Here, have to sendiri belanja sendiri for a company Chinese New Year lunch. Instead of cash in the angpow, there's a lottery ticket. Instead of mandarin oranges, we've got chocolate.

Oh... the most interesting part is, we had our CNY lunch in a Korean restaurant. Aren't we supposed to celebrate the chinese festival in a Chinese restaurant? Well, Koreans are our cousins, just treat it as having lunch at our cousin's place. That's the explanation.
