4D3N Phuket Trip

It's a "hit-and-run" kind of Phuket trip. No planning, no hotel booking, no research, nothing is done beforehand. We were so ignorant that we don't even know where Phuket is!

Once bitten, twice shy. Having encounter the painful miss-flight incident, 3 of us are suffering from miss-flight phobia. We don't trust any displaying boards now. Upon entering the LCCT, we noticed that the misleading TV screens have been removed. I think the LCCT admitted their fault at the expense of 11 of us. I filed a complain against LCCT at the consumer tribunal but was told by the tribunal judge to not trusting the displaying boards in the first place!

We failed to meet the budget of RM 800. In total, we spent about RM 920 for a 4D3N trip.

Day 1

The flight took about 1 hr 15 min. Upon arrival, we were drawn by Thailand Tourist Agency. The person-in-charge was very friendly and helpful. We booked our hotel, Andaman Resotel Hotel, which is situated very near to the happening street in Patong, thru the agency. Good deal: THB 1000 per room (triple) per nite.

Airport meter-taxi to Patong Beach costs around THB 420. We had a late lunch at Jungceylon Food Court. Lunch costs around THB 160 for 3 people.

After lunch, we lepak at Jungceylon Shopping Mall. There's a newly opened Carrefour hypermarket. Goods sold in Carrefour Phuket have far more varieties than Carrefour M'sia. Wedding biscuits were sold there too! I was attracted by the Doraemon umbrellas.

There was some kind of competition going on in Phuket. Cheerleading guys and girls were practising on the beach. We strolled along the beach during sunset.

As Phuket was swept by Tsunami back in Dec 2004, the town was rebuilt. Everything is brand new now. There were lots of signboards guiding tourists to safety spots.

After dinner, we caught a 9 pm Ah K'ua Show at the Simon's Caberet. THB 500 per ticket, inclusive of van transfer to-and-fro the hotel. The transverstites performers are very beautiful, if they keep quiet. Once they speak... yuk!

Day 2

We signed up for a 1-day package at the airport yesterday. For THB 1500 per person, we got to visit Phi-Phi Island, Maya Bay and Khai Island. The package also includes hotel transfer, a buffet lunch and snorkelling equipment rental. The program started at 7:30 am and ended at 4 pm.

Bringing along MonKee to vacation is the wisest thing to do. MonKee doesn't swim. She'd look after our bags on the cruise boat while we go snorkeling. MonKee managed to construct a on-the-spot movie too! The following is the storyline:
Again, while swimming along the coast of Khai Island, MonKee looked after our belongings. The corals there have died. Redang Island is far more beautiful compared to the islands around Phuket. I had a deep cut on my left ankle. Huh... have to be extra cautious while swimming around coral reef.

We noticed that the one who never swim turned out to be the most tanned person. Reason: MonKee spent her time and patience catching beautiful photos.

Pineapple fried rice is a must-try in Thailand. THB 120 for a pineapple fried rice, hm... quite expensive. And we tried "fried morning-glory". The so-called "morning glory" looks like kangkung to us.

After dinner, we strolled along the streets in Patong. Nearly all the pubs have scantily clad girls dancing on the table. And nearly every single Mat Salleh guy has a local "tourist guide" in his arm.

For THB 359 per person, we had a 45 min facial cleansing + blackhead/whitehead removal + neck massage package in Jungceylon Shopping Mall. The blackhead removal procedure was damn painful. Nevertheless, it was a refreshing treatment. Lastly, we spent the nite sipping Singha Beers, watching twinkle-twinkle-little-stars, munching peanuts, googling handsome Mat Salleh with their local "tourist guides" and last but not least, chatting. The topic of the nite was: ren2 sheng1 - Life...

Day 3

A lot of activities were carried out on the beach. People do their hair there; people have thai massage there; ...... We were only interested in finding an air-conditioned place to avoid the sun.

Tuk-tuk from Patong to Town costs THB 400, but a bus ride costs only THB 20 per person. We were wondering where's the bus station coz we've never seen any bus on the road. Rupa-rupanya they convert a lorry into a bus.

We found many chinese words in Phuket Town. Oh... we ended up in Chinatown inadvertently. There's a famous Hokkien Mee stall. We went into the stall without knowing the fact and we ordered Char Kuey Teow instead.

There's not much to see in Phuket town. Our intention was just to set foot there. Due to extravagant lifestyle the days before, we were really on a shoe-string in Phuket town.

We rented a double-room in PS Inn for THB 350 per nite. To avoid from spending time in the shabby room, we had a Thai massage after dinner. The cheapest Thai massage we could get was THB 200 per hour. After massage, we caught a midnite show of Harry Porter in the cinema for THB 90 per person. Harry Porter was the only movie in English as other movies were dubbed in Thai. 3 of us fell asleep in the cinema coz we're worn out after a full day's activities.

Day 4

The cost of living in Phuket Town is lower than in Patong Beach. In another words, Patong is 60% more expensive than the Town. McD Sundae Cone at Patong costs THB 150; but only THB 95 in Town.

Taxi from the Town to the airport costs THB 450. We reserved THB 500 per person for the airport tax. Mana tau, we're not required to pay any airport tax after Feb 2007 as it's included in the AirAsia ticket. Aiseh, at the last minute, we have extra cash on hand pulak!

"3 ekor water" had a great time in Phuket! I wonder, will we have another trip together?
